I was born in Scotland, brought up in England, worked in Wales and was adopted by them and arrived for a weekend in Orkney - 18 years ago. Bizarre but true.

The Learning Link is a very special place for me because it was inside my head for so long. When the Scottish Government started putting money into Adult Literacies my dream of a dedicated centre for adult learning became a reality in 2002.

We opened the first Learning Link at 18 Queen Street in 2002 moving to St Rognvald Street four years later, when we ran out of space. Both places have always had a great 'feel' about them. The atomosphere is warm, welcoming and something approaching wacky - but I believe people actually blossom in this atmosphere.
